2026 Fantasy Outlook
Mackey went scoreless in three outings for the Rangers last season and added 18 points, 87 PIM and a minus-13 rating over 62 games for AHL Hartford. Overall, that doesn't give him a lot of upside, but he signed with the Blackhawks in free agency, presumably to add a veteran presence on AHL Rockford's blue line. Entering his age-30 campaign, it looks like the time has past for Mackey to become a full-time NHL option. He's logged just six games over the last three years with the Rangers. Don't expect Mackey to see much more time on a Chicago team that has plenty of prospects to test with call-ups throughout the year. Read Past Outlooks

Set to be placed on waivers
Mackey will be placed on waivers by the Blackhawks on Friday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
After getting into a career-high 30 NHL games in the 2022-23 campaign, Mackey has appeared in just three outings at the top level in the last two regular seasons. The lack of NHL time coincided with entering the Rangers' organization, and there seems to be no reason to suggest an uptick in minutes is forthcoming. As a result, the 28-year-old will likely continue to spend the bulk of his time with AHL Hartford, where he amassed six goals, 18 assists and 102 PIM in 66 games last season.
