2026 Fantasy Outlook
Heineman teased potential early last season with nine goals and four assists over the first 19 games of the season. However, he managed just 13 goals and five helpers over the last 63 contests despite seeing fairly steady middle-six usage. At 24 years old, Heineman still has room for growth, especially since he just completed his second full campaign. What's unclear is where his ceiling will be. The winger looks to be at least a reliable and physical third-line option at the worst, but he showed much more potential early last year. There's still plenty of room for fantasy managers to make room for a forward with 20-goal potential even if the playmaking lags behind. Expect him to get over the 30-point mark again with high totals in shots and hits and a little bit of power-play production to boot. Read Past Outlooks
Cy Young season continues
Heineman scored a power-play goal on three shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
ANALYSIS
Heineman's goal stood as the winner. He's put up a Cy Young stat line this season -- he has a whopping 22 goals and just nine assists in 79 games (172 shots). Heineman's best fantasy asset is his sniping, followed closely by his hitting. He's a middle-six winger with an elite shot, 200-foot sensibility and a willingness to play physical hockey. Heineman has 244 hits in 79 games this season.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his first NHL campaign, Heineman was fine as a bottom-six contributor for the Canadiens. He had 18 points, 64 shots on net, 173 hits and a minus-6 rating over 62 regular-season appearances. Heineman has some promise as a second-round pick of the Panthers from 2020, but it will be tough to capitalize on that potential if he remains in a bottom-six role for the next few years. Ideally, he'd bump up to be a power forward capable of pushing for 30-plus points in a middle-six spot instead. However, he figures to remain in a bottom-six role to start 2025-26 after being flipped to the Islanders over the summer in the return for Noah Dobson. On the plus side, he might get some power-play ice time -- Heineman earned five of his 18 points with the man advantage, which is an area the Isles need to improve.

Heineman is hoping to play for Sweden at the 2026 IIHF World Championship, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Heineman is far from a lock for the Swedish roster after missing the cut for the 2026 Winter Olympics. However, his chances could improve depending on who else is available for the May tournament. In 82 regular-season games, the 24-year-old winger notched 22 goals and nine assists, both career bests, while racking up 247 hits.
