The Jets don't have a lot in the pipeline on defense, but that's no guarantee Phillips will get steady NHL minutes in 2026-27. Entering his age-24 season, Phillips has yet to establish himself at the NHL level. That won't be any easier after his trade from Chicago to Winnipeg last season, joining a team that already has eight established NHL blueliners and some youth in the system. Phillips produced a goal in three NHL games for the Blackhawks prior to the trade, and he combined for 16 points in 67 regular-season appearances between AHL Rockford and Manitoba. His fantasy outlook is dim given the team situation, so managers don't need to draft him this fall.
