Jonatan Berggren

Jonatan Berggren

26-Year-Old Right WingRW
St. Louis Blues
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Berggren split 2025-26 between the Red Wings and the Blues, but he wasn't able to maintain a steady spot in the lineup for either team. He compiled eight goals, 14 assists, 58 shots on net, 41 hits and a minus-5 rating in 51 outings. Berggren has mostly peaked as a middle-six option who can factor in on the second power-play unit on occasion. The key will be usage. If Berggren can play the vast majority of the time, he could push for 10-15 goals and 30-plus points. However, if he continues to be a rotational part of the lineup, he will likely end up closer to the 20-point mark. His relative lack of non-scoring production makes it tough to justify keeping him on fantasy rosters. Read Past Outlooks

July 1, 2026
Berggren signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Blues on Wednesday, per Darren Dreger of TSN.
ANALYSIS
St. Louis declined to present Berggren with a qualifying offer before Monday's deadline, but the two sides were still able to work out a new deal. Berggren had eight goals and 22 points in 51 regular-season appearances between the Red Wings and Blues in 2025-26. The 25-year-old is likely to begin the 2026-27 campaign as part of St. Louis' bottom six.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
After spending most of the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids, Berggren was a full-time NHLer in 2024-25. In 75 regular-season appearances, he generated 12 goals, 24 points, 89 shots and 41 hits while averaging 12:59 of ice time per game. He mostly played alongside Vladimir Tarasenko and J.T. Compher, and the trio struggled to generate much offensively. The 25-year-old Berggren was productive in spurts and could be a decent waiver-wire addition in 2025-26, but he may not move the needle much for prospective fantasy managers, especially if he remains in a bottom-six role.
Berggren regressed in 2023-24, as he spent most of the season with Grand Rapids, where he managed 24 goals and 56 points in 53 regular-season contests, good for 23rd in AHL scoring. He saw action in only 12 games with Detroit - scoring twice with four assists - after picking up 15 goals and 28 points in 67 regular-season appearances during his rookie season in 2022-23. The loss of Robby Fabri and Daniel Sprong increase his chances of staying in the NHL this season, but he needs to play on one of the top three lines in order to be productive. Berggren should remain on the waiver wire after your fantasy draft as there are too many question marks as to where he will play in the lineup.
It didn't draw much in the way of headlines, but Berggren quietly put together a solid rookie season at age 22. He played in 67 of 82 games for the Wings, finishing with 15 goals and 28 points. He added nine points with the man advantage. It will be interesting to see if the additions of Alex DeBrincat and Daniel Sprong and the presumed return to full health of Robby Fabbri have any impact on Berggren's deployment in 2023-24. It's not out of the realm of possibility Detroit could have him start the year with AHL Grand Rapids if he doesn't earn a top-nine role out of training camp.

RWFree Agent
June 30, 2026
Berggren is expected to sign a one-year, $2 million contract with St. Louis, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Berggren appears poised to remain with the Blues despite not receiving a qualifying offer from the club. In his 26 regular-season tilts for St. Louis, the 25-year-old winger tallied six goals, 10 assists and 38 shots while averaging a career-high 14:35 of ice time. With a full season in St. Louis, Berggren could push for the 30-point threshold for the first time in his five-year NHL career.
