Juraj Slafkovsky

Juraj Slafkovsky

22-Year-Old Left WingLW
Montreal Canadiens
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Slafkovsky finally translated his power-forward profile into elite production. The 22-year-old winger produced 30 goals and 43 assists across all 82 regular-season games, firing 180 shots and adding 15 goals and 13 assists on the power play. The 2022 first-overall pick also chipped in physically with 105 hits and 78 blocked shots. He should remain in a top-line role with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, so Slafkovsky enters 2026-27 with realistic 35-goal, 80-point upside. He's still just 22 years old and trending up. Slafkovsky is an early-to-mid-round target whose multi-category profile -- points, hits, blocked shots, man-advantage production -- makes him one of the more valuable young wingers in the player pool. Three-point effort Thursday
LWMontreal Canadiens
May 21, 2026
Slafkovsky scored twice on four shots, added an assist and went plus-3 in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
ANALYSIS
Slafkovsky's pair of goals came in the third period to help the Canadiens fend off Carolina's comeback push. The 22-year-old winger has scored in just three of 15 playoff contests, but two of those instances have been multi-goal efforts. He's up to six tallies, six assists, 44 shots on net, 22 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating this postseason. Slafkovsky has earned eight of his 12 points on the power play, but all three in Thursday's contest came at even strength.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025

2022
Slafkovsky has emerged as a power forward with a bright future early in his NHL career. He isn't the most consistent scorer, but he's leading the way as a top-line player already for the Canadiens, who are poised to be a competitive team in the Atlantic Division moving forward. Slafkovsky had 18 goals, 33 assists, 133 shots on net, 194 hits, 62 blocked shots and 45 PIM over 79 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He's shot at least 13 percent in each of the last two years, which is a testament to the high level of skill that made him the No. 1 overall pick in 2022. An increase in shot volume would go a long way to improving his output, but natural growth should have him in contention for 20 goals and 60 points in 2025-26.
When you tally 20 goals and 50 points, including 14 power-play points, in your first full NHL season, you generally get rewarded with a sizable NHL contract. That was the case for Slafkovsky, who signed a max-length eight-year, $60.8 million contract extension with the Canadiens this offseason. Based on his new deal, the team appears to be expecting even bigger things out of the 20-year-old power forward, something that certainly isn't out of the question - though he will need to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump. Barring that potential slump, Slafkovsky should be capable of producing at an elite level heading into the 2024-25 campaign, making him a top-end fantasy target.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Slafkovsky began the season in Montreal as an 18-year-old. He missed three games early on with an upper-body injury and then was suspended for two games. He appeared in 39 of the first 44 games for the club before a lower-body ailment ended his year. Slafkovsky finished with four goals and 10 points. It's far too soon to call Slafkovsky a bust, but after seeing what guys like Logan Cooley and David Jiricek did a season ago, albeit not in the NHL, the early returns aren't great. That said, there's never been a No. 1 overall pick that isn't supremely talented, so Slafkovsky will get a chance to rebound in 2023-24. He remains an intriguing keeper and dynasty league asset.
Few had Slafkovsky pegged as a top-five pick for the 2022 draft at the start of last season. By the time all was said and done, he ended up passing Shane Wright and going No. 1 overall to Montreal. Slafkovsky played last season with TPS in Finland (5 goals, 10 points in 31 games) in addition to being named MVP of the Olympics while playing for his native Slovakia. He's a massive (6-foot-4) kid with excellent hands and a big shot, but he won't turn 19 years old until the end of March, so it's entirely possible he won't have legitimate redraft value until 2022-23. However, he's a top-tier pick in all keeper/dynasty formats.

Sitting out Worlds
LWMontreal Canadiens
May 2, 2025
Slafkovsky won't join Slovakia for the 2025 IIHF World Championship, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Slafkovsky is coming off back-to-back 50-point campaigns with the Habs, so he shouldn't have to be too worried that he'll be left off the 2026 Winter Olympic roster for Slovakia. While he didn't manage to hit the 20-goal threshold this year, the 21-year-old winger should be capable of pushing for that mark in 2025-26, making him a solid fantasy option -- especially in formats that utilize hits, of which he registered 194 this past year over 79 regular-season games.
