2026 Fantasy Outlook
A lengthy recovery from hip surgery saw O'Connor's season debut come in March. He had two assists, 13 shots on net and 11 hits over 13 regular-season games and another two points in 13 playoff outings. The long absence made 2025-26 a lost year for the veteran forward. O'Connor will likely slot into a third-line role at best in 2026-27, and he should also see time on the penalty kill. In the previous four years, O'Connor finished between 21 and 26 points, which is a fair estimation of where he should end up if he can play a full slate of games again. He should also added 70-plus hits and 30-plus PIM. If he can return to form, he'll have some appeal in deeper fantasy formats. Read Past Outlooks
Surprise Game 1 hero
O'Connor scored the game-winning goal Sunday during the Avalanche's 2-1 victory over the Kings in Game 1 of their first-round series.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old winger missed most of the regular season after undergoing hip surgery last June, and he didn't score a goal while adding just two assists over 13 games once he finally made his 2025-26 debut in late March. In fact, O'Connor's last tally was also a playoff game-winner, as he opened the scoring in a 4-0 win over the Stars in Game 4 of the first round last year. O'Connor produced a surprising two goals and six points in that seven-game series before Colorado's elimination, and he may be gearing up to provide some valuable secondary scoring once again despite his bottom-six role.

O’Connor will be out until at least early November after getting offseason hip surgery. The 28-year-old posted just 21 points in 80 games during the 2024-25 regular season in a bottom-six role, which will also be his niche for the Avalanche whenever he returns. He also added 68 hits and 50 blocked shots in his 14:07 of average ice time. The seven-year NHL veteran has shown a penchant for getting hot -- he had six points in seven postseason games last year – but considering his even-strength deployment, lack of power-play time and a career high of just 26 points, O’Connor likely won't be worth a draft pick even to stash, but he might be an intriguing waiver-wire claim in deeper leagues once healthy.
