2025 Fantasy Outlook
For the second year in a row, Rielly's power-play time took a noticeable dip. In 2023-24, he was able to defy that reduction, but it caught up with him in 2024-25, where he had 41 points (14 on the power play) over 82 games, following his previous 58-point season. The Maple Leafs often used a five-forward power play last year, but changes in the team's composition could allow Rielly to get back in the mix for first-unit duties again in 2025-26. While his offense won't always be elite, Rielly offers decent upside with blocked shots, and his minus-8 rating was a product of more defensive usage rather than a drop in quality. He shouldn't be a No. 1 blueliner in fantasy, but he is reliable enough to be drafted in all formats. Read Past Outlooks
Ruled out for Friday's game
Rielly (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Sabres, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
ANALYSIS
Rielly was considered questionable for Friday's matchup due to an undisclosed injury, and he'll be unavailable for at least one game. However, head coach Craig Berube said Friday that Rielly could be an option for Saturday's rematch against Buffalo, so the defenseman is unlikely to be facing a lengthy absence.

Rielly generated seven goals and 58 points in 72 regular-season appearances during the 2023-24 season and has surpassed the 50-assist mark in two of the last three campaigns. Additionally, Rielly has collected 56 helpers on the power play over that three-season span and racked up 137 blocked shots and 98 hits in 2023-24. Rielly will benefit from the arrival of Chris Tanev, who is expected to be his defense partner. Tanev will be the more defensive-minded presence, while Rielly will have the opportunity to jump into the play or lead the rush more often. They are both superb at moving the puck out of their end, which will help Toronto's transition attack. He may face some competition from newcomer Oliver Ekman-Larsson for power-play time, but Rielly should see most of the minutes between the two on the top unit. The 30-year-old Rielly could return to the 60-point plateau in 2024-25.

Playing Wednesday?
Rielly, who's been dealing with an upper-body injury, is expected to be available Wednesday when the Leafs host the Lightning, per David Alter of The Hockey News.
ANALYSIS
Rielly has put together a solid season, recording seven goals and 44 assists in 65 games played. The 30-year-old will be inserted back into the No. 1 defensive pairing when he returns. He should also link up with one of the team's power-play units -- he's averaged 2:34 of ice time with the man advantage this year.
