SLATE PREVIEW
Toronto (vs. Detroit), Ottawa (vs. Nashville), Tampa Bay (at Boston) and Colorado (at Buffalo) are the biggest favorites on the Moneyline. The over/under for the Avalanche-Sabres, Lightning-Bruins, Red Wings-Maple Leafs and Devils-Blue Jackets is 6.0 goals, while the other matchups expect 5.5 goals.
GOALIES
Connor Hellebuyck, WPG at NYI ($8,000): After a poor showing in Winnipeg's season opener, Hellebuyck stopped 30 shots in a 3-2 win over the Kings on Saturday. The winless Islanders (0-2-0) have scored five goals in two games this campaign despite averaging the second-most shots per game with 36.5.
Scott Wedgewood, COL at BUF ($7,600): Wedgewood has been filling in nicely as Colorado's No. 1 netminder while Mackenzie Blackwood recovers from a lower-body injury. The 33-year-old Wedgewood owns a 2-0-1 record with a 1.95 GAA and a .925 save percentage. Buffalo has lost two straight games and scored only one goal to begin the 2025-26 campaign.
Linus Ullmark, OTT vs. NSH ($7,400): Ullmark has struggled in his first two starts this campaign, but he has plenty of bounce-back appeal in Monday's home opener. During the 2024-25 regular season, he won 15 of his 23 appearances at the Canadian Tire Centre. Ullmark has also emerged victorious in his last two outings against Nashville, stopping 67 of 68 shots and earning a shutout.
VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS
Nathan MacKinnon, COL at BUF ($8,000): MacKinnon has two goals and four assists during a three-game point streak. He has two power-play tallies and 10 shots during that period. MacKinnon racked up two goals on 12 shots and six points in two outings versus the Sabres last season.
Brayden Point, TBL at BOS ($7,200): Point has supplied one goal and two helpers in three games this campaign. He has just one shot on net during that span, but that problem is likely to correct itself soon. Point has compiled 12 goals on 75 shots and 20 points in 30 career contests versus Boston.
Mark Scheifele, WPG at NYI ($6,800): Scheifele has two goals and three assists thanks to multi-point efforts in his first two games of the season. He has four shots and a shorthanded helper during that span.
Kirill Marchenko, CBJ vs. NJD ($6,600): Marchenko accounted for one goal, two assists and seven shots in three meetings with the Devils last season. He scored a hat trick in Saturday's 7-4 win over Minnesota and should carry over some momentum into Monday's matchup.
Patrick Kane, DET at TOR ($5,300): Kane has four points through two games this season. He filled the scoresheet with one goal, two assists and four shots in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
FORWARD LINES STACKS
Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings
Auston Matthews (C - $7,700), Matthew Knies (W - $6,400), Easton Cowan (W - $3,200)
Matthews didn't record a point in Saturday's loss to Detroit, but he had a game-high six shots on goal and ripped a shot off the post. A breakout performance from him is likely right around the corner, and he has 34 points (19 goals, 15 assists) in 27 career contests versus the Red Wings. Knies was also quiet in Saturday's defeat despite three shots on target. He had one goal, two helpers and two shots in four outings against Detroit last year. Cowan will make his NHL debut on Monday, and he could be a tremendous value play.
Toronto's top line has plenty of bounce-back potential for Monday's slate.
Mammoth at Chicago
Logan Cooley (C - $5,900), Dylan Guenther (W - $6,500), JJ Peterka (W - $6,000)
Cooley potted a goal on three shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Nashville, while Peterka had a helper and Guenther produced two points, including the game-winning goal in the match. The 22-year-old Guenther has two goals on 11 shots and three points through two games this season.
Utah's second line has considerable bang for the buck upside, and they should remain hot in Chicago on Monday.
DEFENSEMEN
Luke Hughes, NJD at CBJ ($6,200): Hughes has four points, four shots and two blocks through two games. He has collected two assists in each of his first two games this campaign. Hughes has compiled three goals, five points and 17 shots in seven previous outings against the Blue Jackets.
Morgan Rielly, TOR vs. DET ($5,500): Rielly has started the season with consecutive multi-point performances. He has one goal, three assists, seven shots and three blocks through two outings. Rielly has generated 27 helpers and 31 points in 42 career appearances against Detroit.
