Eklund is coming off a busy year -- he played in three different leagues (SHL, AHL, NHL) and came to North America in late March. The 2025 No. 16 overall pick displayed his upside in limited action with AHL Bridgeport, producing three goals, seven assists and a plus-4 rating over nine regular-season contests. The Swedish winger also made his NHL debut in the Islanders’ season finale and generated an assist while receiving 2:29 of power-play ice time. Eklund is an intriguing prospect with good hands and compelling playmaking abilities, so he should have every opportunity to earn a roster spot on an Islanders team in desperate need of offensive help.
