Borgen matched his career high of five goals in 75 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season. He added 10 assists, 69 shots on net, 111 hits and 99 blocked shots for some decent category coverage. He has reached the 20-point plateau on two occasions at the NHL level, but his offensive production isn’t what potential fantasy managers will be seeking. He got a chance to see action in the top four following his trade to Boston, but he could still settle into a third-pairing role in 2026-27. With Charlie McAvoy making his season debut Tuesday, Borgen is likely set to see fewer minutes moving forward, but his strong start to the year should keep him in the lineup. He'll have some appeal in banger leagues, but he's never had more than 25 points over a full season, so there's not much offense to be found here.

After a tough start to the season with the Kraken, a mid-season trade to the Rangers helped turn Borgen’s year around. He scored four goals and added nine assists in 51 games with the Rangers after scoring just two points in 33 games with the Kraken. Borgen saw his role and ice time increase with the Rangers, playing in the top four and averaging over 18 minutes per night after averaging just over 15 minutes of ice time with the Kraken. The 28-year-old defenseman has a physical aspect to his game and some more offense to give, topping out at 203 hits and 25 points at different points in his career. Given his top-four role with the Rangers, Borgen could be a deep sleeper pick in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.
