Gina Mazany

Booked for May fight
February 12, 2021
Mazany will take on Priscila Cachoeira (head) at a UFC event scheduled for May 15, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
It's not yet clear whether the fight will take place at the strawweight or flyweight division, but Mazany will attempt to build on her momentum after defeating Rachael Ostrich via TKO (liver kick) at UFC on ESPN 18 in November. Cachoeria defeated Shana Dobson via KO (punch) in February of 2020, but she sustained a head injury in October that has kept her sidelined since. Cachoeira has an edge in height, but Mazany has an advantage in reach.

Gets stronger as fight goes on
November 28, 2020
Mazany defeated Rachael Ostovich via TKO (liver kick) at 4:10 of Round 3 at UFC on ESPN 18 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Mazany showed diverse striking in Round 1 despite eating a few counters. She also managed to record a takedown and briefly take her opponent's back before Ostovich scrambled out of it. Mazany took this one back to the mat right away in Round 2 and attempted a north-south choke, but Ostovich bridged out of it to take her back and land a few shots. After a few more exchanges on the feet, Mazany again took Ostovich to the mat, tossing her back down each time Ostovich got to her feet. Ostovich eventually escaped, but Mazany landed a huge left hand to close the round. Despite showing signs of fatigue entering Round 3, Mazany still put forth a high volume, both on the feet and in the clinch. She recorded a few more takedowns and came very close to stopping the fight via ground-and-pound, but Ostovich somehow still made it back to her feet. Mazany then started to employ heavy body kicks, and it was back-to-back liver kicks that eventually ended the proceedings. Mazany looks like a brand new fighter down at 125 pounds and will likely continue to improve under the tutelage of James Krause at Glory Kickboxing.
Bout scheduled for Nov. 28
September 8, 2020
Mazany will fight Racheal Ostovich at the UFC event November 28, reports.
This flyweight bout will feature two fighters hoping to bounce back. Mazany made her return to the UFC in June after being released in late 2019, but she fell to Julia Avila via TKO.
Handed medical suspension
June 15, 2020
Mazana has been handed a medical suspension from the UFC through July 29, reports.
Mazany was knocked out in just 22 seconds at the hands of Julia Avila at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas. He will now not only not be allowed to fight again until July 29, but he will not be able to have any physical contact through July 14. He was already dumped by the UFC this past January after a string of poor performances, so this second chance does not bode will for any future fights. He now holds a 1-4 UFC record.
Trounced in UFC return
June 13, 2020
Mazany lost to Julia Avila via TKO (punches) at 0:22 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Mazany's struggles continue. Dumped from the UFC this past January following a string of poor performances, Mazany got another chance on Saturday and barely lasted 20 seconds. She provided zero resistance when Avila pushed forward with a string of punches. Referee Chris Tognoni gave Mazany plenty of time to recover, but it clearly wasn't happening. Now 1-4 under the UFC banner, it would be shocking if the company decided to run Mazany back out there a sixth time.
Back in UFC
June 4, 2020
Mazany will return to the UFC and take on Julia Avila on June 13, reports.
Mazany parted ways with the UFC back in January, but was tabbed to return after Karol Rosa was forced out of the June 13 bout. Mazany has lost her last two fights in the UFC to Lina Lansberg and Macy Chiasson. Avila will be fighting for the first time in nearly a year.
