Cannetti lost to Mana Martinez via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 30 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Almost certainly in need of a victory to extend his time with the UFC, Cannetti deserves credit for accepting this fight despite the fact Martinez missed weight on Friday morning. He fought reasonably well for a guy who entered as a +240 underdog. Cannetti appeared to win the first round before dropping each of the final two. His offensive output dropped dramatically over the course of the last ten minutes, making this a fairly obvious call, although one judge did score the final frame for the 41-year-old Argentinean. Cannetti has lost three straight and five of his seven bouts with the company, making it unlikely he is granted an eighth opportunity.

Cannetti's fight against Mana Martinez at UFC Vegas 35 on Saturday will go on as planned despite Martinez weighing in four pounds over the bantamweight limit on Friday, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Martinez came in at 144 pounds during Friday's weigh-in and will now have to forfeit 30 percent of his purse to Cannetti for the fight to proceed. Cannetti's initial opponent tested positive for COVID-19 last week but the UFC was able to find him a new challenger very quickly. It will be Martinez's debut in the UFC and also his first fight without his head coach after recently losing him to a battle with COVID-19. It has been a long time coming for Cannetti's return to the Octagon, as he last fought in March of 2020 when he was knocked out by Danaa Batgeral.

Cannetti will take on Mana Martinez in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event Aug. 28, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Mario Bautista tested positive for COVID-19 and forced the UFC to try to find a new opponent. They decided to move Mana Martinez over from the Aug. 21 card to fight Cannetti. Martinez was supposed to fight Trevin Jones. Cannetti last was in the Octagon back in March of 2020 when he was knocked out by Danaa Batgeral.

Cannetti will need a new opponent in order to stay on the Aug. 28 card in Las Vegas, as Mario Bautista has tested positive for COVID-19 and is off the card, MMA Island reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither fighter currently appears on either the UFC or ESPN website page that displays the card, which seems to corroborate the report. It's unclear what the company next has in mind for Cannetti, who needs to bounce back from a two-fight losing streak to preserve his longevity with the company.

Cannetti will square up against Mario Bautista in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event on August 28, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Cannetti will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since getting knocked out by Dana Batgeral in early March. The 40-year-old will be hoping to bounce back, as a loss may spell the end of his career with the UFC.
