Kris Moutinho

Dominated in return to UFC
BantamweightUFC
June 14, 2025
Moutinho lost to Malcolm Wellmaker via KO (punch) at 2:37 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Moutinho was cut from the UFC following losses in his only two appearances back in 2021-2022. He went out and won five fights on the regional scene before getting another opportunity here. Unfortunately, he entered as a +950 underdog in a bout he had zero chance of winning. Kris is tough, but continuously pushes forward with zero regard for his own well being. His durability is terrible and that's was a recipe for disaster against an elite young finisher in Wellmaker. One would think the company brought him back for this fight with the intention of giving him an easier assignment his next time out, but that's not a guarantee.

Next challenger steps in
BantamweightUFC
June 4, 2025
Moutinho is set to face Malcolm Wellmaker in a bantamweight fight at UFC Atlanta on June 14, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Moutinho has come up short in his first two UFC bouts and has provided quite underwhelming performances on both occasions. Looking to bounce back in a major way, Kris will take on a new challenger, Malcolm Wellmaker, who is coming off his UFC debut and displayed potential after winning by K.O. in Round 1. The 32-year old will be required to give his best performance since debuting if he wants to continue getting opportunities from the company for future showings.
Still searching for first UFC win

March 12, 2022
Moutinho lost to Guido Cannetti via TKO (punches) at 2:07 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his second appearance with the UFC, Moutinho is best remembered for absorbing 230 significant strikes from Sean O'Malley in his UFC debut last July. In further proof it's impossible to predict what will happen in this sport, Cannetti -- who is nowhere near the talent O'Malley is -- got him out of there with just 28 strikes landed in this one. The UFC generally gives fighters a third opportunity with the company even if they come up short in their first two bouts, but Moutinho may be the rare exception due to how little he has shown thus far. There's nothing to see here.

December 2, 2021
Moutinho will take on Guido Cannetti on March 12, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
Moutinho withdrew from a scheduled October fight against Aaron Phillips for undisclosed reasons but will be ready to go by March. He'll be looking for his first UFC win, having lost by TKO against Sean O'Malley in his promotional debut in July. His opponent, Cannetti, has two UFC victories, but those are spread out across seven fights with the promotion, with the last one coming back in May of 2018.

ANALYSIS
The reason for Moutinho's withdrawal isn't clear at this point. Jonathan Martinez will slot in to fight Phillips in his void.
Second UFC fight set

Moutinho will take on Aaron Phillips in a bantamweight bout at the UFC event Oct. 23, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Moutinho came in on short notice and put on a good show against Sean O'Malley back in July, but ultimately was defeated via TKO. Moutinho will hope for a different end result when he takes on a fighter also making his second start with the UFC.
