Ramazan Emeev

Drops controversial split decision
October 16, 2021
Emeev lost to Danny Roberts via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
It's a crushing defeat for Emeev in a fight which he likely deserved to win. To make matter worse, Emeev entered as the second biggest favorite on the card at -320. Not one of the three rounds was scored unanimously by any of the three judges. Neither man was all that active on the feet, as Emeev attempted just 112 total strikes compared to 102 from Roberts (unofficially). Neither man scored a knockdown. In short, there wasn't a ton separating the two, but it's a loss the 34-year-old Emeev simply could not afford. Expect the Dagestani to do whatever is possible to get back in the Octagon ASAP following this heart breaker.

Survives as hefty favorite
January 16, 2021
Emeev defeated David Zawada via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC on ABC 1 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
He deserved to win, but this was a struggle for Emeev considering he entered as the second-biggest favorite on the entire card at -300. Emeev didn't do much in the stand-up, instead relying on his grappling to score points with the judges. He was credited with four successful takedowns on nine tries, leading to 4:28 worth of control time. Emeev has now been with the UFC for more than three years, sporting a 5-1 record. It's difficult to argue with the success, but Emeev hasn't gone up against many notable opponents, and it remains to be seen how he will fare against better competition.
