Taking on Kevin Holland
Della Maddalena agreed to face Kevin Holland in a welterweight bout at Noche UFC on Sept. 16 in Las Vegas, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The pair will join the card after the welterweight fight between Kelvin Gastelum (undisclosed) and Shavkat Rakhmonov was canned. Holland is coming off a dominant victory over Michael Chiesa in July and has won two straight bouts. Della Maddalena remains undefeated since coming up through Dana White's Contender Series in 2021 and last beat Bassil Hafez in July, though it wasn't an easy victory.

Barely survives Bassil Hafez
Della Maddalena defeated Bassil Hafez via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN 49 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Della Maddalena has been hanging around Vegas the past couple weeks, willing to fight anyone who would step into the Octagon with him at 170 pounds following the potential lifesaving withdrawal of Josiah Harrell a week ago. Hafez stepped up here, and JDM nearly paid for it. Entering as a -650 favorite, Jack dropped the first round after spending more than three minutes on his back. He allowed three takedowns in Round 1 and stuffed all 15 of Hafex's attempts the rest of the way, which is a good thing because if even one more of those tries landed, JDM may have been looking at his first loss since May 2016. Ultimately, however, Jack was able to do enough damage on the feet over the course of the final ten minutes -- when Hafez's energy dropped -- to convince two of the three judges he deserved the win. JDM needs to clean up his takedown defense moving forward, as constantly attempting guillotines in place of actual defense and then ending up on his back just isn't going to cut it. Any opponent that saw this fight is understandably going to try to get him to the mat. On the bright side, though, he'll take home an extra $50,000 after this bout was given Fight of the Night honors.
