McCann defeated Ariane Lipski via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night 154 in Greenvillem South Carolina on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
It looked early like McCann was going to get stuck on the outside against the longer opponent, but she was able to create angles for her heavy left hook and exit out to avoid damage as the fight wore on. "Meatball" may have surprised her opponent by throwing in a few late takedowns, landing heavy ground and pound at the end of Rounds 1 and 2 to ensure she took the decision. McCann has seemingly come a long way since being toyed with and subbed by Gillian Robertson in her UFC debut, as she is showing with every passing fight that she is more than just a boxer. She improves to 9-2 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.

This will be McCann's first fight since she suffered a broken orbital bone and was forced to undergo surgery. Her opponent, Lipski, was most recently upset in her UFC debut by Joanne Calderwood via unanimous decision back in January.

McCann received a significant gash above her left eye during the third round of her victory over Priscila Cachoeira on Saturday, which swelled and blocked her vision from the left eye. McCann was able to persevere and win the bout via an unanimous decision but will now go under the knife to fix the damage.

McCann defeated Priscila Cachoeira via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night in London on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
McCann came out incredibly energized by the home-town crowd, which led to some violent striking exchanges in the first round where both women landed. Cachoeira continued to press forward nonetheless, but McCann was able to get a takedown. In a close scramble for top position, McCann locked in the head and arm of Cachoeira before transitioning to the armbar, which nearly ended the fight. Cachoeira showed excellent submission defense to free the arm, but McCann ended the round in top position with a few ground strikes for good measure. In the second, McCann came out looking to brawl again and landed several big right hands early. The round continued on the feet, and Cachoeira began wearing the punishment racked up by McCann's precise striking. In the third, McCann got a quick takedown and attempted a guillotine choke, but it got back on the feet in short order. From there, Cachoeira landed a right hook that opened a big cut above McCann's eye, and for a moment it looked like the tides were turning. McCann was able to withstand the onslaught and even delivered some offense, despite likely being unable to see from her left eye. After a quick check from the doctor, McCann finished the final minute while dodging several flying knee attempts. It was a step back in the right direction for "Meatball," who cashed in as the betting favorite and evened her record at 1-1 in the UFC.
Next fight coming in March

McCann (7-2) has been added to the March 16 UFC London card and will face Priscila Cachoeira (8-1) in a flyweight bout, Guilherme Cruz and Peter Carroll of MMAFighting.com report.
ANALYSIS
Both fighters will be looking for bounce-back performances after losing their UFC debuts earlier this year. In McCann's case, she lost as a favorite against Gillian Robertson back in May, dropping the match via second-round submission. She'll at least enter his second UFC fight presumably with less rust to shake off than Cachoeira, who will go nearly 13 months between fighting after tearing her meniscus back in February and requiring surgery.
Loses Octagon debut via submission in Round 2

McCann was defeated by Gillian Robertson via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:05 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in Liverpool.
ANALYSIS
McCann had a rough first outing in the UFC. She landed a few good shots early, but then was taken down by Robertson in the first round. It was obvious Robertson had the advantage on the ground as she transitioned to different positions on top. She quickly achieved mount and started looking for an armbar and then transitioned to McCann's back. "Meatball" showed good choke defense and was able to survive until the second round. In the second round, McCann's lack of takedown defense was her downfall. She was almost immediately taken down and once again gave up mount. Shortly thereafter, Robertson took her back and sunk in the choke. The British fighter chose not to tap and was choked unconscious in her Octagon debut.
