Lungiambula lost to Magomed Ankalaev via KO (Front Kick) at 0:29 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Moscow, Russia.
ANALYSIS
It ended up becoming evident why Lungiambula entered as the largest underdog (+270) on the entire card. While his entire performance was a disaster, Lungiambula does deserve some credit. The average human being never would have been able to survive the beating the South African endured. It took a perfectly placed front kick from Ankalaev that appeared to knock Lungiambula out cold to finally finish the proceedings. Although Lungiambula earned a knockout win over Dequan Townsend in his UFC debut in June, this performance is more in line with what to expect from the 34-year-old moving forward.

Lungiambula will go up against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Moscow on November 9, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Lungiambula is coming off a very strong UFC debut back in June, where he defeated Dequan Townsend via TKO (punches and elbows) at UFC on ESPN 3. He is now 10-1 in his professional career and hasn't lost a fight since 2015. Lungiambula is falling into a habit of ending fights early too, as he has gone the distance just once in his last four bouts.

Lungiambula defeated Dequon Townsend via TKO (punches and elbows) at 0:42 of Round 3 at UFC Minneapolis on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Lungiambula worked his takedown game primarily in each of the first two rounds, but was really unable to do a whole lot with it. After failing to advance position or land meaningful ground strikes in the second round, the referee stood up the two fighters and Lungiambula took a big shot that rattled him. Those effects evaporated by the start of the third round, as Lungiambula landed a quick left and followed it up with a heavy right that dropped Townsend. He immediately pounced, showing excellent cardio in his ability to quickly land an onslaught of heavy shots. After multiple elbows connected, the referee stepped in to save the day. Lungiambula is the latest in a string of skilled African fighters to find success in the UFC, and in a 205-pound division in need of a talent influx, it won't be long before he gets a bigger fight.

Lungiambula will face Dequan Townsend at UFC Minneapolis on Saturday, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lungiambula's previous opponent, Justin Ladet, bowed out for an undisclosed reason Monday, leaving a short notice for a replacement to be found. Fortunately, Townsend will step in to make it a pair of UFC debuts in this bout. Considering the two rely heavily on KO/TKO for their victories, it's a good bet this fight will remain upright for the vast majority. Lungiambula will likely enter as the heavy favorite given his superior track record and the fact that he's had a full fight camp to prepare.

Lungiambula will need a new opponent for UFC on ESPN 3 after Justin Ledet withdrew from the bout Monday, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear exactly why Ledet withdrew, but the decision to drop out comes just five days before the fight is set to take place. Despite that, the UFC is still actively looking for a replacement fighter on short notice for Lungiambula, who is scheduld to make his UFC debut at the event.
