Dominates in UFC debut

Van Buren defeated Livinha Souza via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Sacramento.
Easy work. The reigning Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, Van Buren easily handled the former holder of that same exact title in Souza. BVB finished with an 88-30 edge in total strikes landed, an insane 204-73 advantage in total strikes attempted, and chipped in 3-of-4 takedowns for good measure. The American Kickboxing Academy product called for a ranked opponent her next time out and it's going to be difficult to deny her request after this performance. Van Buren is a legitimate contender.

UFC debut set

Van Buren will make her UFC debut against Livinha Souza at UFC Sacramento on July 13, Rafael Oreiro of reports.
The original fight was scheduled to be Souza against Cynthia Calvillo, but Calvillo was forced to withdraw due to a broken foot. In steps Van Buren, an American Kickboxing Academy product that is the current strawweight champion with Invicta FC. To earn that belt, she won three fights in a single evening in the promotion's Phoenix Rising event, with two of those victories coming against former UFC fighters (Kailin Curran, Juliana Lima). While she barely stands at five-feet tall, Van Buren has the durability and skill set to win at the UFC level, and she'll only be 26 years old in August.
