Second fighter awarded contract Tuesday
August 28, 2019
Barrett defeated Sang Hoon Yoo via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. He was one of three fighters awarded a contract at the conclusion of the event.
Barrett entered this fight as a (+160) betting underdog and was looking the part early, likely dropping the first round due to Yoo's wrestling ability and unique offensive arsenal featuring hard-thrown knees. His gas tank held up when Yoo's didn't, however, as it was apparent early in the second that Barrett was the fresher fighter. Barrett continued to dictate the pace from there and although the third round was close, the judges called it in his favorite. After the fight, White admired the grit and determination of the 33-year-old, who also happens to be a Massachusetts native.
