Loses after missing weight
FlyweightUFC
September 21, 2019
Melo lost to Irene Aldana via unanimous decision (26-30, 26-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
It was not a great 36 hours for Melo. As if missing weight by four pounds on Friday morning for her UFC debut wasn't bad enough, she forfeited a portion of her purse to Aldana and still dropped a lopsided unanimous decision. Melo agreed to step in for an Marion Reneau on days notice, so her struggles are somewhat understandable, but nothing in her background leads you to believe she will have future success even if she is afforded a full training camp. Melo doesn't have a single knockout win in 16 career bouts.

Late replacement in Mexico City

Melo will step in for Marion Reneau and make her UFC debut against Irene Aldana in a flyweight matchup at UFC Mexico City on Sept. 21, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Melo already has an uphill battle ahead of her, as she'll be fighting a Mexico native at altitude in enemy territory. It's no surprise oddsmakers peg her as a (+375) underdog just days before the fight takes place, making her the biggest underdog on the entire card. The 31-year-old Brazilian is riding a four-fight winning streak, and does have a victory over current UFC flyweight Molly McCann on her resume.
