Maverick up next
Cortez is scheduled to compete against Miranda Maverick in a flyweight fight at UFC Tampa on Dec. 14, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Not even multiple months after struggling in her first UFC main event, a decisive loss to Rose Namajunas, Cortez will prepare to get back into the octagon. Maverick may be an unranked veteran, but she is coming off a three-fight win streak that could get her into the UFC's flyweight rankings with another victory.

Struggles in first UFC main event
Cortez lost to Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision (46-49, 46-49, 47-48) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Cortez's first UFC main event, in altitude on short notice, proved to be too much. She had a couple moments in which she was aggressive on the feet and managed to keep Namajunas off-balance, but for the most part, she was picked apart with strikes and struggled to defend the takedown. Tracy is a pure brawler, and while striking isn't Rose's greatest strength, she's improved mightily in that category over the years and was able to win the vast majority of the stand-up exchanges between the two. Tracy entered having won each of her first five UFC bouts, but the victories came over Jasmine Jasudavicius, Melissa Gatto, Justine Kish, Stephanie Egger and Vanessa Melo, and all were via decision. Set to turn 31 years of age in December, nothing in Cortez's past profile suggests she is ready to compete with the best the UFC has to offer.

Targeted to face Rose Namajunas
Cortez is in targeted to compete against Rose Namajunas in UFC Denver on July 13, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cortez was previously set to compete against Miranda Maverick but after Maycee Barber's unexpected withdrawal from the main event, but the promotion is expected to set up a match between the former strawweight champion and Cortez, who is coming off her fifth consecutive win.
