Gets right back in win column
Egger defeated Ailin Perez via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:54 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Paris.
ANALYSIS
Getting right back to work following a 77-second submission defeat to Mayra Bueno Silva less than a month ago, Egger fared considerably better against the debuting Perez. A grappler and judo specialist who struggles in the striking game, Egger had a rough go of it on the feet here, but Perez felt it necessary to constantly attempt to fight in tight, which played right into Egger's greatest strengths. A rear-naked choke late in the second frame finally ended Perez's evening. The 34-year-old Egger has won three of four dating back to October 2020.

Attempted swerve doesn't work
Egger lost to Mayra Bueno Silva via submission (armbar) at 1:17 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 40 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight was a terrible look for Egger on multiple levels. She tapped out to a Bueno Silva armbar a little over a minute into the fight. The Brazilian let go of the hold after feeling the tap, but referee Chris Tognoni didn't see it. He asked Egger if she indeed did submit and Egger appeared to totally ignore him. Tognoni's next move was to go to replay, which showed nothing because Egger tapped on the back side of Bueno Silva's leg out of the view of the camera. He then polled the judges, with one of them saying he was "100 percent sure" he saw the tap, which was enough to end the bout. The defeat snaps a two-fight win streak for Egger and could have ramifications beyond this fight because of the soon-to-be 34-year-old's actions afterwards.
