Gets new fight

ANALYSIS

Snaps brief losing streak
Araujo defeated Jennifer Maia via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The victory snaps a two-fight losing streak for the Brazilian and likely saves her job in the process. Araujo started quickly, getting the better of Maia over the course of the first ten minutes. Araujo was particularly effective in Round 2, as two successful takedowns led to 4:35 worth of control time. She did allow Maia to regain the momentum in Round 3, but the damage was already done. A .500 fighter over the course of her past half-dozen bouts, Araujo may have difficulty stringing together victories moving forward considering she'll be 37 years of age in late-November.

New opponent scheduled
Araujo will fight Jennifer Maia in a flyweight bout at UFC Vegas 81 on Oct. 14, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Araujo was supposed to fight Casey O'Neill at UFC 293 in Sydney on Sept. 9. However, O'Neill withdrew and Maia was willing to compete, seemingly just as long as the bout got scheduled for later. Maia-Araujo has been scheduled twice before, both times in 2020, once re-scheduled and the other canceled.

Slated to face O'Neill
Araujo will take on Casey O'Neill in a flyweight contest at a UFC event in Australia on Sept. 9, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Araujo, like her opponent, is coming off a loss via unanimous decision. The flyweight could use a victory more than her opponent, however - she's 1-3 in her last three UFC contests. Both fighters will look to get back on the winning side of the octagon in September.

Struggles against Amanda Ribas
Araujo lost to Amanda Ribas via unanimous decision (27-29, 26-30, 27-30) at UFC 285 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Other than a deep guillotine attempt just moments into the fight and a deep armbar attempt in the final minute, Araujo had nothing. She was somewhat competitive in the feet in Round 1 before her pace dropped considerably, allowing Ribas to dominate the rest of the way, headlined by a Round 2 knockdown. Each of Araujo's last eight fights have seen the final bell. She's 4-4 in those contests. Set to turn 37 years of age in late-November and with zero history of defeating better competition, we have almost certainly already seen the best Araujo has to offer.
