Starts night with victory by sub
Silva defeated Maryna Moroz via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:59 of Round 1 at UFC 292 on Saturday in Boston.
ANALYSIS
Silva doubled the amount of total strikes landed by Moroz (52-to-25) and even executed a takedown, but still found herself in a not-so-favorable position later in the round. That didn't matter in the least, however, as Silva threw up a guillotine from her back that had Moroz tapping just seconds before the final bell rang for Round 1. A former Contender Series product, Silva is now 3-0 under the UFC banner, with all three victories coming by first-round submission. The 29-year-old appears due for a step up in competition next time out.

Moroz last competed in November, when she had a three-fight winning streak broken by Jennifer Maia. She'll now look to bounce back against Silva, who is a dedicated finisher -- all 16 of her pro victories have came by way of stoppage. Grappling has been Silva's best tool in her brief UFC run, though it's worth noting that Moroz has yet to be submitted in 15 professional fights. She does sport just a 47 percent takedown defense, so Silva will likely be looking to drag her to the mat early.

Silva won't face Priscila Cachoeira at UFC Vegas 71 on Saturday after Cachoeira came in four pounds over the flyweight limit, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
