Rakhmonov defeated Michel Prazeres via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:10 of Round 2 at UFC Vegas 30 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Rakhmonov entered as one of the biggest betting favorites on the card -- as high as (-350) -- and looked every bit the part. He used a massive reach advantage to keep Prazeres' looping shots at bay, ultimately recording a takedown in Round 1 and using it to gain 3:25 worth of control time and a big advantage in the significant strikes count. Round 2 was more of the same, as Rakhmonov used a spinning wheel kick and a strong knee to begin the fight-ending sequence. He was able to get Prazeres to his back, follow up with ground-and-pound and take his back to get the rear-naked choke. The 26-year-old Rakhmonov is a perfect 14-0 as a professional and appears due for a big step up in his next fight.

Rakhmonov defeated Alex Oliveira via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:40 of Round 1 at UFC 254 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
It was a brilliant performance from Rakhmonov in his UFC debut. As if scoring a first-round stoppage win over a respected veteran wasn't enough, Rakhmonov picked up a percentage of Oliveira's purse after the latter missed weight Friday. Rakhmonov spent the early portion of the bout hammering Oliveira on the feet. He put together a couple beautiful combinations that targeted both the head and body. After that, Rakhmonov saw an opportunity to pull guard along the fence, and he took advantage and ended up quickly choking Oliveira out. The Kazakhstan native turned just 26 years of age Friday. Keep an eye on him. There's big-time potential here.

Rakhmonov will be awarded 20 percent of Alex Oliveira's fight purse after his opponent came in two pounds heavy for their welterweight matchup at UFC 254 on Saturday, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Rakhmonov was able to hit his mark on this scales, Oliveira came in at 173 pounds -- two pounds over the limit for a non-title fight in the welterweight division. Meanwhile, the betting odds have shifted in favor of Rakhmonov, as he's a slight favorite in some sportsbooks as of Friday morning after opening as roughly a (+130) betting underdog. The former M-1 Global champion will put his undefeated record on the line in Saturday's prelims, taking on a UFC veteran in the 32-year-old Oliveira, who is coming off back-to-back wins of his own.
