Toughness on display in loss
November 21, 2020
Gooden lost to Alan Jouban (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC 255 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Gooden should be plenty proud of himself despite the setback in his company debut. He displayed all-world toughness and one heck of a chin throughout the course of the fight. Offensively, Gooden got off to a slow start before beginning to find his range over the final ten minutes. He essentially matched Jouban shot-for-shot throughout a good portion of the fight but Jouban's strikes did just a bit more damage. Gooden had fought primarily on the regional scene prior to Saturday but the soon-to-be 27-year-old Atlanta native will undoubtedly get another shot with the UFC after this barn burner.
