Losing streak hits three
FlyweightUFC
March 29, 2025
Vergara lost to Edgar Chairez via submission (face crank) at 2:30 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
It was another woeful effort from Vergara, who appears to be on his last legs with the company. He was blitzed by an attack from Chairez early on and dropped to his knees in hopes of a way out. He gave up his back in the process and managed to survive the rear-naked choke attempt, only to tap out to a face crank. A member of the UFC roster since November 2021, Vergara is now 3-5 with the company, including three straight defeats. His last two losses, both via stoppage, have come in less than three minutes.

Set to fight Chairez
FlyweightUFC
November 21, 2024
Vergara will fight Edgar Chairez at UFC Mexico on March 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Vergara will be desperate to turn things around against Chairez, as the former has dropped each of his last two fights against Asu Almabayev and Ramazan Temirov. Vergara will also be at a four-inch reach disadvantage against Chairez.
First career knockout loss
FlyweightUFC
October 12, 2024
Vergara lost to Ramazan Temirov via TKO (punches) at 2:50 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering without a knockout defeat on his ledger in his professional career, Vergara lasted less than three minutes against the debuting Temirov. In truth, Vergara was fortunate to last as long as he did considering he was knocked down on three separate occasions prior to the finish. The 33-year-old San Antonio native has now lost two in a row in 2024 on the heels of a brief two-fight winning streak in 2023.
Scheduled against UFC debutant
FlyweightUFC
August 12, 2024
Vergara is scheduled to compete against Ramazonbek Temirov in a flyweight fight at UFC Vegas 98 on Oct. 12, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Vergara's next opponent signed with the UFC on Monday. He has a 17-2 record with 10 KO/TKOs and a nine-fight win streak. There is at least some hype for the UFC's newest flyweight, and Vergara will look to halt all that momentum with what could be his first win since 2023.
Fight canceled
FlyweightUFC
July 11, 2024
Vergara's previously scheduled fight against Azat Maksum has been canceled due to Maksum suffering an injury, per Nolan King of USA Today.
ANALYSIS
Maksum's injury will force him to drop out of their scheduled fight, and unfortunately for Vergara, it appears as if he will not face a replacement opponent and will be instead taken off the card. The 33-year-old American was looking to rebound off a decision loss to Asu Almabaev in his most recent fight in March, but will now have to wait for his next opportunity.
Scheduled against Maksum
FlyweightUFC
June 5, 2024
Vergara is scheduled to compete against Azat Maksum in a flyweight fight at UFC Abu Dhabi on Aug. 3, per Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
After being dominated at UFC 299, Vergara will look to bounce back at UFC Abu Dhabi. The same can be said for Vergara's opponent, though he is 17-1 in pro competition compared to the former's 17-6.
