Set to fight Jubli
LightweightUFC
January 20, 2024
Maheshate will fight Anshul Jubli on April 27, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Maheshate has lost back-to-back fights against Rafa Garcia and Slava Borshchev, so getting a win over Jubli may be crucial for his future with the UFC. Maheshate will have a 2.5-inch reach advantage over Jubli, who is also coming off a loss in his latest bout.
Inconsistent ways continue

Maheshate lost to Slava Borshchev via TKO (punches) at 2:37 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Hoping to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Rafa Garcia this past December in which he also missed weight, Maheshate really struggled. He had never been knocked out in his brief professional career entering the evening, but Borschev dropped him on three separate occasions before referee Jason Herzog had finally seen enough midway through Round 2. It's been on-the-job training for Maheshate, who has all of a dozen pro bouts under his belt and won't be 24 years of age until this coming December. He needs to find a win by any means necessary his next time out.
Next fight booked
LightweightUFC
March 20, 2023
Maheshate will take on Slava Borshchev in a lightweight matchup at the UFC event scheduled for May 20, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Maheshate fell to 1-1 in official UFC fights last December with a unanimous decision loss to Rafa Garcia in which he was taken down six times. Fortunately, he draws a stand-up fighter in Borshchev this time around. Maheshate may want to look for takedowns himself here, as Borshchev has been taken down a combined 20 times in his last two trips to the Octagon, both resulting in unanimous decision defeats. While Maheshate will have slight height and reach advantages, Borshchev sports slightly better numbers in striking volume and accuracy, albeit over a small sample size for both fighters.
Loses after weight miss
LightweightUFC
December 17, 2022
Maheshate lost to Rafa Garcia via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The past two days have been a learning experience for Maheshate, who is still very young, having turned just 23 years of age earlier this month. After missing weight by 2.5 pounds on Friday morning, he wasn't all that competitive inside the octagon. His massive size edge was all but negated by the fact he allowed Garcia to land 6-of-11 takedown attempts. Maheshate is an intriguing prospect both because of his youth and because of the fact that at six feet tall, he has an excellent frame for the lightweight division, but his long-term future is very up much up in the air considering he has just two official UFC bouts under his belt.
Bout to proceed
LightweightUFC
December 17, 2022
Maheshate's scheduled matchup against Rafa Garcia will proceed as planned despite Maheshate's weight miss Friday morning, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Maheshate missed his mark by 2.5 pounds, but the bout will still proceed at catchweight, and he'll have to hand over 20 percent of his fight purse to Garcia. While Maheshate is a promising young prospect, clearly this is an issue he'll have to get in order. In the meantime, he sits as approximately a (+130) betting underdog for the scheduled matchup as of Saturday morning.
