Pulls away from opponent late
LightweightUFC
April 19, 2026
Young defeated Thiago Moises via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night 273 on Saturday in Winnipeg.
ANALYSIS
Young clearly lost the first round while having to fend off choke attempts with Moises on his back, but it's difficult to understand the split decision, as Gauge landed 76 more significant strikes than his opponent over the last two frames. Young typically makes grappling a cornerstone of his offense, but he was more than capable of putting boxing combinations together when facing an opponent with a strong jiu-jitsu pedigree. Young's ability to adjust his game plan according to the opponent should pay dividends as he looks to climb the lightweight ladder. "Gee Money" improved to 11-3-0 in professional MMA due to the victory.

Taking on Moises
LightweightUFC
March 16, 2026
Young will face Thiago Moises in a lightweight bout at UFC Winnipeg on April 18, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Young picked up his first career win in the UFC back in August of 2025, besting Hayisaer Maheshate via unanimous decision. That evened his UFC record at 1-1, and he'll look for win No. 2 against a fighter in Moises who is much more experienced with an 8-7 record, but also coming off an uninspiring first-round knockout loss to a much older fighter (Jared Gordon).
Shows well in featured prelim

August 24, 2025
Young defeated Hayisaer Maheshate via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Shanghai on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
In a fight that went off as a pick'em, Young got a bit of steam late, and he showed why Saturday morning. He won the significant striking battle by double digits in all three rounds, coming out on top by a 112-to-66 mark when it was all said and done. He also recorded a takedown, as well as over a minute of control time, in each frame. The win helps him bounce back from an April 2025 loss to Evan Elder and evens out Young's UFC record at 1-1.
Second fight scheduled
LightweightUFC
July 11, 2025
Young will fight Hayisaer Maheshate at UFC Shanghai on Aug. 23, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Young made his UFC debut in April and lost to Evan Elder by unanimous decision. He'll get a chance for redemption in August, when he'll face off against Maheshate, who's lost three of his last four bouts.
Struggles in late-notice debut
LightweightUFC
April 26, 2025
Young lost to Evan Elder via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Accepting this fight about a week ago following the withdrawal of Ahmad Hassanzada, Young looked overwhelmed and not ready for the opportunity. We last saw Gauge in September, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Quillan Salkilld on Dana White's Contender Series. He managed to see the final bell here, but Young landed no notable offense and had zero chance of winning a decision. He's going to get another shot with the company due to his willingness to "save" this bout, but little should be expected.

ANALYSIS
