Runs win streak to three straight
WelterweightUFC
October 5, 2019
Lima defeated Luke Jumeau via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 243 on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Lima fought considerably better than the "split decision" term would lead you to believe. He pounded Jumeau's leg early and often, saw it was working, and stuck with it. Lima is a below-average athlete and has a limited offensive arsenal, but he saw a weakness in Jumeau's armor and deserves full credit for taking advantage of it. It's awfully difficult to believe if you have ever seen some of his weaker performances, but Lima is now somehow riding a three-fight win streak dating back to December 2018. His recent string of successes aside, the UFC needs to be very careful regarding who they match Lima up against next time out.

ANALYSIS
Lima was on the verge of being released by the UFC after dropping three straight fights and five of seven overall, but with his back against the wall in December, the Brazil-native came through with victory via first-round knockout over Chad Laprise. Moving forward, Lima may still be facing do-or-die situations with the UFC, with Court "The Crusher" McGee standing in his way next.

Lima defeated Chad Laprise via KO (punch) at 1:37 of Round 1 at UFC 231 on Saturday in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
The UFC probably should have released Lima after his loss to Yushin Okami (his third straight defeat) in April, but they kept him around for some reason and he took advantage of the opportunity on Saturday. Not known for his power, Lima landed a shocking one-punch walk-off on Laprise not long after the opening bell rang. Lima's future remains bleak, but this win ensures he will get another fight with the company.

ANALYSIS
Lima has been in a rough stretch of late with three straight losses and five losses in his last seven bouts, so he'll try to get back on track against Laprise. Overall in his career, the Brazilian is 12-7 and is the two-time TUF runner up. Laprise, meanwhile, is also coming off a loss, to Vicente Luque, but has won three of his last four bouts.
