Booked for UFC 239
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 20, 2019
Rockhold (knee) will move up to light heavyweight and face Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
This will be the first fight for Rockhold after undergoing surgery on his knee earlier this month. The surgery was minor in nature, but it's still fair to be slightly concerned with the surgery and the change in weight class, not to mention he's lost two of his last three fights.

Undergoes knee surgery
Light HeavyweightUFC
March 11, 2019
Rockhold underwent knee surgery Monday and isn't expected to return until June or July, Ariel Helwani of reports.
Rockhold noted it was a "minor procedure" on his meniscus and it shouldn't keep the former UFC middleweight champion sidelined for too long. When he returns to the octagon, he will make his light heavyweight debut -- which could come against Corey Anderson at UFC 238 in Chicago on June 8.
Wants new weight class

Rockhold (leg) plans to move up to light heavyweight, Jed Meshew of reports.
Rockhold most recently pulled out of his middleweight fight against Chris Weidman at UFC 230 while dealing with a lingering leg injury. He had already been toying with the idea of leaving middleweight before accepting the fight, but he ultimately took the fight and believes cutting weight inhibited his injury from healing correctly. That apparently was the last straw before making the decision to move up in weight class.
Pulls out of UFC 230

Rockhold pulled out of his scheduled fight against Chris Weidman at UFC 230 due to injury, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
The nature and severity of the injury are unclear, though Rockhold was battling a lower left leg injury earlier in the year. If Weidman is still to fight at UFC 230, the UFC will have to find a replacement quickly, as the event is just 15 days away.
Agrees to fight Chris Weidman
Light HeavyweightUFC
August 17, 2018
Rockhold (lower leg) and Chris Weidman have come to terms to face off in a middleweight matchup at UFC 230 on Nov. 3 in New York City, ESPN's Brett Okamoto reports.
Rockhold, who re-injured his lower left leg while training in May, was originally targeting an October return. Coming off a loss to Yoel Romero in February, Rockhold is now slated to enter the Octagon with Weidman during the first week of November. When the two last faced in December of 2015, Rockhold pulled off the upset by way of TKO in the fourth round. He dominated the striking battle 126-to-48 in that matchup, but was taken down three times in the fight by Weidman. Rockhold owns a mediocre 68 percent takedown defense in the UFC, and his best chance in this fight is to keep the fight standing where his striking advantage can be used. Since the last fight, each man has gone 1-2 under the UFC, though each loss was to a top middleweight contender.
Injures leg, targeting October return
Light HeavyweightUFC
May 22, 2018
Rockhold re-injured his left leg while training last week and is now expected to sit out until at least October, Ariel Helwani of reports.
Rockhold was given a 180-day medical suspension following his loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 221 in February, but the recent leg injury is the more concerning ailment considering it's set to keep him out at least the next four or five months. The exact specifics of it are unclear, though Helwani's report does show a graphic video of Rockhold's left shin being stitched up. The UFC was hoping to pair up Rockhold and Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 on Aug. 4, but it appears that fight will be put on hold for now. Look for additional updates to be released on Rockhold as he progresses through his recovery this summer.
