Uriah Hall

Not competitive in main event
July 31, 2021
Hall lost to Sean Strickland via unanimous decision (44-50, 45-50, 46-49) at UFC on ESPN 28 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
This was probably Hall's last chance to make a legitimate impact at 185 pounds, and it didn't go well. He seemed out of sorts from the get go. Hall has traditionally been a slow starter throughout the course of his career, but this was one fight where it really ended up costing him. He allowed Strickland to set the pace of the fight behind his jab and never truly recovered. Hall deserves credit for lasting as long as he did. He probably should have been stopped in Round 3, but referee Herb Dean allowed him to continue. Hall has legitimate fight-ending power, but he has never fought aggressively enough to get to it on a consistent basis. Hall turned 37 years of age on fight night. He is what he is at this point. He's been a valued and useful member of the UFC roster for a long time, but the odds of him getting to that next level many expected long ago are exceedingly slim.

Fight moved to July 31 main event
June 4, 2021
Hall's bout versus Sean Strickland at UFC 265 on August 7 has been rescheduled as the main event for UFC Fight Night on July 31, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
Hall has won his last four bouts and is coming off a win over Chris Weidman via TKO in April, when Weidman's leg snapped a mere 17 seconds into the fight. Stickland also has a four-fight win streak, three of which have come since Halloween. The middleweight matchup will also move to five rounds as a typical main event.
Added to August 7 card
May 14, 2021
Hall will face Sean Strickland at UFC 265 on August 7, Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie reports.
Hall is riding a four-fight win streak and has come out victorious in three of his last four fights by way of finish after he most recently defeated Chris Weidman via a first-round KO after Weidman's leg snapped following a kick to Hall's leg just 17 seconds into the fight. The 36-year-old will face a tough test against Strickland, who is also on a four-fight win streak of his own, and most recently defeated Krzysztof Jotko by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 23 at the beginning of May.
Earns win following opponent injury
April 24, 2021
Hall defeated Chris Weidman via TKO (injury) at 0:17 of Round 1 at UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
There isn't a ton to say here. Weidman fired off a low kick that caused his leg to snap just moments after the opening bell rang. It goes in the record books as a victory for Hall, so technically he gets his revenge for the knockout victory Weidman scored over him back in 2010 in their Ring of Honor days. He'll also be the first fighter in UFC history to earn a victory despite not attempting a single strike. Hall's last full fight came against Anderson Silva last Halloween, so he hasn't been on the sidelines all that long. Still, expect Uriah to get back in the Octagon as quickly as possible following this one.
Weidman match bumped back
January 29, 2021
Hall's upcoming match against Chris Weidman was pushed from Feb. 13 to April 24 on Friday after Weidman tested positive for COVID-19, MMAJunkie.com reports.
With just over two weeks remaining until the originally scheduled date, Weidman wasn't going to have the time to get back into fighting chance. Hall will have to wait a bit longer to get revenge on Weidman, who won a first-round TKO victory against him all the way back in 2010 when both were fighting under the Ring of Combat banner.
Matched against Chris Weidman
November 17, 2020
Hall has verbally agreed to take on Chris Weidman in a middleweight matchup on Feb. 13, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
Hall was hit with a six-month medical suspension due to hand and foot injuries following his TKO victory over Anderson Silva in late-October, but he's evidently been cleared to return sooner than that. That win was his third in a row. He'll look to stretch his winning streak to four against a fighter he lost to all the way back in 2010 when both were fighting for Ring of Combat. As of early-January, oddsmakers list Hall as roughly a (-160) betting favorite for the matchup.
