Bout with Romero coming together
June 24, 2020
Hall is expected to take on Yoel Romero in a middleweight matchup at a yet-to-be-determined location August 22, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
Hall has one three of his last four fights, but this proposed matchup with Romero will be one of the toughest draws of this run, and a win would put him right in the title conversation. While Romero has lost four of his last five bouts, he's been highly competitive in each, and three of those were with a belt on the line. Hall is a much younger fighter than the 43-year-old Romero, and he'll carry a six-inch reach advantage into the cage, but still look for Hall to be the betting underdog here.

Agreed to fight with Romero
June 16, 2020
Hall and Yoel Romero have verbally agreed to an August fight at Middleweight, Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports.
A specific date and location has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be at some point in August. Hall was scheduled to fight Jacare Souza at UFC 249, but that was cancelled after Souza tested positive for COVID-19. Hall last fought in September against Antonio Carlos Junior.
Upcoming fight canceled
May 8, 2020
Hall's scheduled fight against Jacare Souza at UFC 249 on Saturday was called off after Souza tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
Souza was reportedly asymptomatic but won't be able to carry on with the fight. With his withdrawal coming the night before the fight was scheduled to take place, Hall will be forced to drop from the card, but the rest of the event is expected to go forward as scheduled.
Souza fight back on
April 26, 2020
Hall's middleweight matchup against Jacare Souza has been moved to UFC 249 on May 9 in Jacksonville.
This was a fight originally scheduled for April 18, and while the UFC came close to pulling it off amidst a global pandemic, the company was eventually forced to scrap those plans. With the Florida governor deeming companies such as the UFC "essential business," the company is now full speed ahead with putting on this rescheduled event. Hall was a slight betting underdog for the original matchup, and oddsmakers have a similar outlook here, pegging him at roughly (+105).
Locked in for Souza fight
April 6, 2020
Hall will officially take on Jacare Souza in a middleweight matchup at UFC 249 on April 18.
This was one of the matchups originally scheduled for a card that was supposed to take place in Brooklyn, but there was a lot of uncertainty with these fights due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hall will get to cash a check after all, however, and enters as roughly a (+110) betting underdog for this matchup. He enters this fight having won three of his last four, while Souza on the other hand has dropped three of his last four. Hall will give up a couple inches in height, but owns a sizable seven-inch reach advantage. Souza has better offensive wrestling marks as a submission specialist, while Hall owns the edge in striking volume.
Will fight at UFC 249
December 24, 2019
Hall (15-9-0) will take on Ronaldo Souza (26-8-0, 1 NC) in a middleweight bout at UFC 249 on April 18, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Hall is coming off back-to-back wins, most recently against Antonio Carlos Junior via split decision at UFC Vancouver in September. Souza will make his return to the middleweight division after suffering a defeat in a light heavyweight matchup against Jan Blachowicz via split decision at UFC Sao Paulo in November. Although Souza has lost three of his last four fights, a win by Hall would be one of the biggest of his career. Despite the lack of offense shown by Souza against Blachowicz, he remains a threat due to his striking power. While Souza carries a slight height advantage, Hall carries a significant advantage in reach.
