Emil Meek

Shows warrior's spirit in loss
February 22, 2020
Meek lost to Jordan Matthews via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 168 in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
Meek is a fighter who doesn't know any other speed than full, and that mentality nearly paid dividends in the third round, after some nice calf kicks and a big counter knee left his opponent compromised. He was unable to get the knockout, but it's encouraging that Meek's takedown defense held up so well in the final frame, as that has been a glaring weakness throughout his career. He may not have the record in the UFC to prove it (1-3 with the loss), but Meek is a supremely exciting fighter who has the ability to knock a fighter out at a moment's notice. This might allow him to hang on with the promotion, despite less-than-stellar- results.

Meek will fight Jordan Matthews in a welterweight bout on Feb. 22 at UFC Auckland, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
Meek hasn't entered the Octagon since June of 2018 after tending to a few injuries. Matthews is a difficult draw, as he's won four of his last five bouts and is 15-4 overall on the UFC stage.
Unable to fend off pressure in loss
July 22, 2018
Meek lost to Bartosz Fabinski via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 134 on Sunday in Hamburg, Germany.
Meek must have been well aware of the strategy Fabinski was going to employ in this fight but aside from a window of opportunity in the third round, it didn't make a difference, as Fabinski's pressure and smothering takedowns were simply too much for the 29-year-old. Meek has shown himself to be an exciting striker but has fought his last two bouts against dedicated wrestlers. He will likely get another chance with the UFC but is now 1-2 in the company since making his debut in December of 2016.

Meeks losing a wrestling contest against Kamaru Usman
January 14, 2018
Meek lost to Kamaru Usman via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Sunday in St. Louis.
Meek's best chance to win this fight was a guillotine choke inside the first minute. After that, Usman took over. He continued to land takedowns and work from the top. Meek did his best to stay in the fight, but he could not stop takedowns. Usman was able to score takedowns at will, and that was the story of the fight. Meek falls to 1-1 in the UFC and 9-3 overall.
Scheduled fight against Usman bumped up
December 18, 2017
Meek's welterweight matchup with Kamaru Usman been rescheduled for UFC Saint Louis on January 14, MMAFighting.com reports.
