Set to fight Almeida
Romanov will fight Jailton Almeida at UFC 302 on June 1st, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Romanov will step in after Alexander Volkov opted out of the match with Jailton Almeida. The 6-foot-2 heavyweight, nicknamed "King Kong" will look to improve his record from 17 to 18 wins, though Almeida will not be an easy opponent for the Moldovan native.

Snaps brief losing streak
Romanov defeated Blagoy Ivanov via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Romanov didn't do much in this fight, but it was a much needed victory on the heels of back-to-back losses to Alexander Volkov and Marcin Tybura. This was a slow, prodding affair, which is the exact type of fight Romanov prefers. He was more active than Ivanov on the feet and landed the only two takedowns of the fight. It was a clear cut victory for Romanov, albeit an underwhelming one. Most importantly, his roster spot is now secure following the triumph.

Ivanov fight scheduled
Romanov will fight Blagoy Ivanov in a heavyweight bout at the UFC Apex on July 1, according to Nolan King of USA Today.
ANALYSIS
Romanov, No. 14 in the UFC's heavyweight rankings, will try to maintain the coveted spot against No. 15 Ivanov, 3-4 UFC and 1-2 across his last three fights. Both are suffering from losing skids and trying to maintain their statuses as top fighters in their division.

Dominated by Alexander Volkov
Romanov lost to Alexander Volkov via TKO (punches) at 2:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Awful. Facing a much taller opponent in Volkov, Romanov came out trying to wrestle. He attempted a takedown seconds after the opening bell rang, which seemed to zap what little energy he had to begin with. He attempted five takedowns in all, failing on each. Romanov never appeared to get cracked with any one shot which put him in danger, but he eventually found himself on the mat in a prone position eating unanswered strikes until referee Mark Smith had finally seen enough. Volkov is a quality opponent , but this was an incomprehensible performance from Romanov as roughly a -150 favorite. The 32-year-old Moldovan has gone from an up-and-coming heavyweight to a guy potentially fighting for his job next time out in a span of seven months.

Taking on Volkov
Romanov is set to face off with Alexander Volkov in a heavyweight matchup at UFC Vegas 71 on Mar 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Romanov, who was most recently defeated by Marcin Tybura in August, will look to bounce back against Alexander Volkov in March. The 32-year-old Romanian fighter is 5-1 in the UFC (ranked thirteenth in the heavyweight division), and he will look to continue building his resume against Volkov.
