Still seeking first UFC victory
LightweightUFC
July 15, 2023
Deaton lost to Alex Munoz via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 49 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Deaton fought better here than the scorecards would indicate, and it was a massive improvement from his second-round submission defeat to Joe Solecki in his UFC debut this past February. Still, he remains winless with the company. Deaton and Munoz engaged in a fairly even kickboxing match for ten minutes before the latter began to pull away. With the bout possibly tied at a round a piece, Deaton was knocked down and allowed three takedowns in the final stanza alone. It ended up not mattering because two of the three judges gave Munoz each of the first two frames, however. Deaton will likely need a victory his next time out in order to extend his stay with the UFC.

Munoz fight scheduled
LightweightUFC
May 7, 2023
Deaton will fight Alex Munoz in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 226 on July 15, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Deaton will try to redeem himself after losing his previous fight. CD3's next opponent is 6-2, both losses coming via decision. Like the aforementioned Deaton, Munoz is also trying to log his first UFC win.
Dominated in UFC debut
LightweightUFC
February 25, 2023
Deaton lost to Joe Solecki via technical submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:55 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut on the heels of a long, up-and-down career on the regional circuit, the 33-year-old Deaton struggled, as expected. Entering as a +450 underdog, second-largest on the entire card, Deaton spent nearly nine minutes (8:51) being controlled on the mat by Solecki. It's not a great sign considering the entire bout lasted just under ten minutes. Deaton opted to go to sleep as opposed to tapping out. The American Top Team product might get another shot with the company, but there's little to see here.
Getting first shot with UFC
LightweightUFC
February 16, 2023
Deaton will take on Joe Solecki at UFC Vegas 70 on Feb. 25, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Deaton will make his UFC debut next week. He holds a 17-5 record as a professional, but is just 2-3 over his last five bouts. Solecki was last in the Octagon in June when he defeated Alex da Silva.
