Comes up short in gritty fight
De La Rocha lost to Juan Adams via TKO (punches) at 0:58 of Round 3 at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
De La Rocha was taken down early in this one but was able to weather the storm and make it to Round 2. It seemed like either man's fight from there as both looked significantly fatigued, but Adams was the one who was able to string shots together to get the stoppage in the final frame. De La Rocha has a functional boxing and wrestling game but he is very hittable and has no gas tank to speak of, which will likely make it difficult for him to get wins anywhere but at the bottom of the division. De La Rocha falls to 5-3 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Will fight Juan Adams in Milwaukee
De La Rocha will fight Juan Adams at UFC on Fox 31 in Milwaukee on Dec. 15, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After losing his first two UFC fights, De La Rocha got things turned around in June with a knockout win over Rashad Coulter. The 39-year-old will now be rewarded with a battle against the 26-year-old Adams, who's made some noise with four straight knockouts in the first round. While De La Rocha will look to use his experience edge, he'll still be at both a height and reach disadvantage, and will desperately need to avoid the heavy hand of Adams. De La Rocha owns a 5-2 career record, which includes three knockout wins and two submission victories.

Earns first UFC win Saturday in Chicago
De La Rocha defeated Rashad Coulter via TKO (punches) at 3:53 of Round 2 at UFC 225 on Saturday in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
De La Rocha didn't really win, he somehow survived. In a fight in which both men displayed sub-par cardio, De La Rocha managed to pace himself a bit better than Coulter. Coulter's body gave out on him late in Round 2 and De La Rocha was there to take full advantage. It was far from pretty, but it was a win that likely saved De La Rocha's job. Despite the victory on Saturday, the 39-year-old remains nothing more than roster depth in the UFC's heavyweight division.
