Obliterated in UFC debut
WelterweightUFC
April 5, 2025
Frunza lost to Rhys McKee via TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Frunza earned his UFC opportunity with a second-round knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series in September. He made his official company debut here, and it was an unmitigated disaster. Frunza was knocked down by McKee three times in Round 1 before the doctor pulled the plug at the end of the frame due to a massive gash under his eye. It was have been nice to see Frunza get a chance to continue considering he survived a ton of early damage, but he was wearing it pretty good. He's going to get another fight with the UFC, but little should be expected.

Set to make UFC debut
WelterweightUFC
January 26, 2025
Frunza will fight Rhys McKee at a UFC event in Las Vegas on April 5, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl,
ANALYSIS
Frunza will make his UFC debut against McKee in April, looking to extend a five-fight win streak across promotions. The 30-year-old Romanian will give up a height and reach advantage to the younger McKee. Frunza will be hoping to use his stopping power to take down McKee, as he boasts a perfect 8-0 professional record in KO/TKO finishes, though McKee's 10-2 record in such finishes will keep Frunza on alert as well.
Outlasts opponent for contract
WelterweightUFC
September 26, 2024
Frunza defeated Vadym Kutsyi via TKO (punches) at 3:30 of Round 2 at Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series. After the show, he was one of five fighters to be awarded an official UFC contract.
ANALYSIS
Frunza did not have a fast start here, as he was out-landed 28-to-8 in terms of significant strikes in Round 1, in addition to allowing a pair of takedowns. The tide turned in Round 2 as Kutsyi began to gas out, and as soon as Frunza smelled blood, he was all over his opponent with flurries of shots. Kutsyi continued to shoot for takedowns out of desperation, but Frunza kept raining down punishment from the top before the referee stepped in. The end result is the 30-year-old Romanian, who entered as a slight betting underdog, officially claiming a spot in the UFC's welterweight division.
