Again falls as favoirte
StrawweightUFC
April 30, 2022
Mazany lost to Shanna Young via TKO (punches) at 3:11 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN 35 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's a second -traight dreadful loss for Mazany as a significant (-190) betting favorite. Gina was the better fighter in Round 1, controlling the pace of the bout and limiting Young's space on the feet, but she ended up being controlled on the mat midway through Round 2 following an awkward exchange along the fence. From there, Young was eventually able to secure the stoppage. Mazany is now sporting a 2-6 record in her first eight UFC bouts, and it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if the company decides to cut their losses following this latest setback.

Mazany will take on Shanna Young in a flyweight bout at the UFC event April 30, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Mazany is coming off a disappointing fight as a massive favorite over Priscilla Cachoeira. Prior to that she defeated Rachael Ostovich by TKO in November of 2020.
Falls as biggest favorite on card

May 15, 2021
Mazany lost to Priscila Cachoeira via TKO (punches) at 4:51 of Round 2 at UFC 262 on Saturday in Houston.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. Entering as the biggest favorite on the card at about -225, Mazany was dominating Cachoeira for the entirety of the bout before referee Mike Beltran forced a standup with a minute-plus left in Round 2. Mazany's gas tank suddenly appeared empty and Cachoeira unloaded with wild, looping shots. Not many of them landed, but Mazany was so exhausted that Beltran had finally seen enough. To say this is a crushing defeat for Mazany would be a massive understatement. She appeared to be improving and making legitimate progress, but now finds herself right back at square one.
Booked for May fight
StrawweightUFC
February 12, 2021
Mazany will take on Priscila Cachoeira (head) at a UFC event scheduled for May 15, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
It's not yet clear whether the fight will take place at the strawweight or flyweight division, but Mazany will attempt to build on her momentum after defeating Rachael Ostrich via TKO (liver kick) at UFC on ESPN 18 in November. Cachoeria defeated Shana Dobson via KO (punch) in February of 2020, but she sustained a head injury in October that has kept her sidelined since. Cachoeira has an edge in height, but Mazany has an advantage in reach.
Gets stronger as fight goes on

Mazany defeated Rachael Ostovich via TKO (liver kick) at 4:10 of Round 3 at UFC on ESPN 18 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Mazany showed diverse striking in Round 1 despite eating a few counters. She also managed to record a takedown and briefly take her opponent's back before Ostovich scrambled out of it. Mazany took this one back to the mat right away in Round 2 and attempted a north-south choke, but Ostovich bridged out of it to take her back and land a few shots. After a few more exchanges on the feet, Mazany again took Ostovich to the mat, tossing her back down each time Ostovich got to her feet. Ostovich eventually escaped, but Mazany landed a huge left hand to close the round. Despite showing signs of fatigue entering Round 3, Mazany still put forth a high volume, both on the feet and in the clinch. She recorded a few more takedowns and came very close to stopping the fight via ground-and-pound, but Ostovich somehow still made it back to her feet. Mazany then started to employ heavy body kicks, and it was back-to-back liver kicks that eventually ended the proceedings. Mazany looks like a brand new fighter down at 125 pounds and will likely continue to improve under the tutelage of James Krause at Glory Kickboxing.
