Fighting Blanchfield at UFC 281
FlyweightUFC
August 11, 2022
McCann will fight Erin Blanchfield in a flyweight contest at UFC 280 on November 12th, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
McCann is coming off a win via TKO (strikes) and will look to take on Erin Blanchfield who has won her past three UFC bouts. Her competitor is of similar stature, but McCann being nine years older could certainly play a role in the outcome of the contest.

Delights crowd in native England

McCann defeated Hannah Goldy via TKO (strikes) at 3:52 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
It's the second straight knockout win for McCann in her native England in the span of the past four months. Molly finished Luana Carolina with an elbow in March, while it was a spinning shot along the fence which put Goldy in peril here. Referee Herb Dean gave Goldy every chance to work through it, but McCann unloaded everything but the kitchen sink to secure the stoppage, which ultimately earned her a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus. While Molly has undoubtedly looked good lately, it's important to remember she was just 3-3 in the UFC prior to this recent three-fight winning streak and all three of her recent wins (Goldy, Carolina, Ji Yeon Kim) came against lesser competition. It's still fair to wonder if McCann will be able to maintain this level against better opposition.

McCann will take on Hannah Goldy on the UFC London Fight Night card on July 23.
ANALYSIS
McCann will make a second consecutive appearance in her native England after picking up a win via KO (elbow) in the third round of her last bout via Luana Carolina in mid-March. She has earned two straight wins following back-to-back losses via unanimous decision, bettering her record to 5-3-0 since joining the UFC. McCann and Goldy both stand 5-foot-4, but McCann holds a one-inch reach advantage over her opponent.
Puts on show in native England

McCann defeated Luana Carolina via KO (elbow) at 1:52 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
It was McCann's best performance to date and it came in arguably the biggest spot of her career. Set to his free agency and fighting in her native England, McCann unloaded everything but the kitchen sink early and often on Carolina. She nearly earned the stoppage multiple times in Round 1, and after the pace died down a bit in Round 2, McCann unloaded a spinning elbow which knocked Carolina unconscious in Round 3. It's only mid-March, but the finish is most certainly in the running for Knockout of the Year at this point. After the fight, McCann hopped out of the cage, grabbed a belt from a fan and rang around the Octagon with it. It's quite hysterical considering her career UFC record is 5-3, she's never beaten anyone of note, and every other victory prior to this one had come via decision, but Molly was clearly pumped up. She definitely had reason to be, as McCann will also earn a well-deserved $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for her efforts here, which was the case for every fighter on the card who produced a finish.
Paired with Luana Carolina

McCann (hand) will take on Luana Carolina on March 19, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
McCann was handed a six-month medical suspension due to multiple hand injuries after her unanimous decision win over Ji Yeon Kim in September. Those six months will have elapsed by mid-March, at which point she'll look to stretch her winning streak to two while improving her UFC recording to 5-3. Her opponent, Carolina, has won three of her four UFC fights thus far.
Dealing with multiple hand injuries

November 29, 2021
McCann is facing a 180-day medical suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission pending a physician's clearance for multiple hand injuries, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McCann recently snapped a two-fight skid with a victory over Ji Yeon Kim that earned the 31-year-old her first post-fight bonus in seven trips to the Octagon. She may have to wait a while to build on that momentum, however, as injuries to both hands could keep her sidelined until spring of 2022 unless she's able to get the proper clearance.
