ANALYSIS
This was a truly awful performance from Sabatini in a pick 'em bout. A noted wrestler that struggles when his takedowns aren't landing, Pat failed on both of his attempts and then got cracked by Lopes as he was getting back to his feet. He was never able to recover, and referee Keith Peterson was stepping in moments later. Sabatini's 5-2 record in his first seven UFC bouts is plenty reasonable, but he's lost two of his last three, and at age 33, there's nothing to suggest any sort of breakthrough is forthcoming.

On paper, he'll be giving up three inches in height and two inches of reach to Lopes, which he'll presumably look to negate with his wrestling. Sabatini averages an impressive 3.83 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time, and while it's only a three-fight sample size, Lopes has a well below-average 33 percent takedown defense.

In a fight which lasted 6:48, Pat was credited with 6:27 worth of control time. He landed 2-of-3 takedowns, finished with an 88-3 edge in total strikes landed, and, of course, landed the arm-triangle which caused Almeida to tap. Sabatini is extremely reliant on his grappling game for success, but he's excellent in that area, as his 5-1 mark in his first half-dozen bouts shows it.
