To fight Yusuff at UFC 300
Lopes is scheduled to compete against Sodiq Yusuff in a featherweight fight in Paradise at UFC 300, per Farah Hannoun of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
Lopes can begin his 2024 on a promising note, defeating Yusuff at the UFC's most hyped event of the year and establishing himself in the featherweight rankings. Lopes' opponent is No. 12 at FW primarily because of a strong beginning to his UFC career. Yusuff is 2-2 across his last four fights though, his latest being a five-round decision loss to Edson Barboza.

Another instant victory
Lopes defeated Pat Sabatini via KO (punches) at 1:30 of Round 1 at UFC 295 on Saturday in New York City.
ANALYSIS
It's been quite a last few months for Lopes. He made his UFC debut in May and nearly upset rising contender Movsar Evloev. He has since earned submission wins over Sabatini and Gavin Tucker, neither of which lasted longer than 98 seconds. Lopes is known more for his ground game, but he's displayed plenty of stopping power over the course of his career, with nine wins coming via knockout. The finish here came when he was able to clock Sabatini after the latter was returning to his feet following a failed takedown attempt. Lopes is clearly a fighter to keep an eye on at 145 pounds as the calendar pushes towards 2024. In the meantime, he'll walk away with a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts -- one of five awarded on the evening.

Will face Sabatini at UFC 295
Lopes will take on Pat Sabatini in a featherweight matchup at UFC 295 on November 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Lopes bounced back from his UFC debut loss in May to collect a POTN-winning victory against Gavin Tucker in August, and will now be fighting for the third time in 2023. He'll hold height and reach advantages over Sabatini, but Sabatini -- who averages 3.83 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time -- will look to negate that by exploiting the 33 percent takedown defense of Lopes, a terrible number (albeit over a small sample size). Look for Lopes to enter as an underdog given Sabatini's 5-1 record under the UFC banner.

98-second submission victory
Lopes defeated Gavin Tucker via submission (armbar) at 1:38 of Round 1 at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
Lopes looked good in a late-notice unanimous decision defeat to rising star Movsar Evloev this past May, and he earned his first UFC victory here against Tucker in emphatic fashion. Diego had to survive a vicious, accidental low blow from Tucker seconds after the opening bell rang. He also gave up an immediate takedown, but showed exceptional awareness in throwing up a triangle before rotating to the armbar that forced Tucker to tap. Although he has just two UFC bouts under his belt, Lopes is closing in on 30 fights as a professional, so the company might as well push the 28-year-old in order to see what they truly have here. In the meantime, he'll go home with one of five $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening.

Second fight scheduled
Lopes is scheduled to fight Gavin Tucker in a featherweight bout at UFC Nashville on Aug. 5, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Lopes will receive another shot inside a UFC octagon. This time, it is against a 37-year-old fighter whose previous fight was a 22-second knockout by Dan Ige. Tucker is by no means an easy fight though, as his 13-2 MMA record (4-2 UFC) indicates.
