2025 Fantasy Outlook
Retired from full-time Cup Series competition at the end of 2024. He may compete in some part-time racing in the upcoming 2025 season. Read Past Outlooks

Daytona 500 on Lap Time
Truex Jr. finished 15th in Daytona Duel 1 for the Daytona 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Truex would spend a good deal of the qualifying race in the transfer spot to race into the Daytona 500. However, a handful of cautions over this short event would not play to his advantage. A late restart would see him battling with most of the open drivers for the spot in the Daytona 500, but Justin Allgaier would make a third lane and drive away from Truex. His 15th-place finish was somewhat disappointing, but he'll still make the field for Sunday's Daytona 500 based on his lap-time from Wednesday's qualifying.

After a woeful 2022 season that had rumors of Truex possibly retiring stirring about the garage area, the veteran Joe Gibbs Racing driver rebounded nicely in 2023. He marched to three victories and 17 Top-10 finishes to end up the campaign a respectable 11th in the final driver standings. That was a far cry from his winless 2022 and 17th-place finish in the standings. Truex will look to build on last season with another solid showing in 2024. While we believe the driver of the No. 19 Toyota is a bit removed from his championship contention years of 2017-2021, he still has some firepower and wins left in him. Last season Truex won on a short track, mid-size track and a road course. That type of diversity of excellence is what we've come to expect over this driver's 18-season career. Crew chief James Small helped Truex to overcome a lot of obstacles last season and he'll continue to guide the veteran from atop the team's war wagon.
