Ian James
Heart of Racing
Expanding to Two Cars
The Heart of Racing will expand into a two-car IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship operation beginning with next month's round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, marking the return of Alex Riberas to the fold. The Spaniard, who has been based in New Zealand since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, will return to series competition in the No. 27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 alongside team principal James, sportscar365.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The team's No. 23 entry has been doing great this season with Roman De Angelis and Ross Gunn at the wheel. Heart of Racing has two victories and five podium finishes with that entry. James will team up with the returning Riberas to field a No. 27 Aston Martin under this team's banner. The duo should have an immediate and big impact in the GT Daytona class.
