2024 Fantasy Outlook
Emerling and Gase combined for 19 of the 33 starts, so they made up more than half the schedule. A handful of other drivers filled in the rest of the slate in 2023. While DNF's were few (four total), consistent performance and good finishes were few and far between. The driving conglomerate would only fetch eight Top-20 finishes and the average finish would fall somewhere in between 26-27 for an average. The team details and driver lineup has not been announced at the time of this writing, but it's expected that Gase and Emerling will do the heavy lifting once again and be supported by a patchwork of other drivers. The situation is far from a recipe for success and will face challenges once again in the 2024 campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Starting New Team
XFINITY Series
November 18, 2021
In 2022, Gase will have a new ride with a brand new NASCAR XFINITY Series team, Joey Gase Racing, Joey Gase Racing PR reports.
ANALYSIS
Gase will venture into the team ownership realm next season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The startup team has five cars and has purchased the remaining equipment of the now-defunct H2 Motorsports. Gase will run the No. 35 car most of the season and still plans to race part-time in the Cup Series.

Made 16 Cup Series starts last season with Rick Ware Racing's various teams. Gase collected just two Top-25 finishes in those efforts and a 32.3 average finish. He's likely tabbed for a similar schedule with RWR again in 2022.
Started 33 of 36 events last season with Rick Ware Racing. He split time between the No. 51 and No. 53 teams. Gase collected two Top-25 finishes in those efforts and averaged a finish of 33.0 across the 2020 season. He presents very little fantasy racing value with this under-equipped race team.
Rick Ware Racing is set to field three full-time teams in 2020, and Ware will be the pilot of one of those three cars. At the time of this writing it's not clear if he'll be in the No. 51, No. 52 or No. 53 entry, but that's not important at this point. Gase made 11 starts last year between three different teams. It was his most active Cup Series season in six seasons of competition. Now the 27-year-old driver will get a full 36-race schedule to show off his skill. Gase has been around the better part of the last decade and has nearly 300-combined starts between Cup and the Xfinity Series, so he's not short on experience. He should give Rick Ware the best performance of his three teams in the upcoming season.
Gase raced part-time in the Cup Series in 2018. He looks poised to run a similar schedule this season with the MBM Motorsports No. 66 team. Gase will most likely race full-time in the Xfinity Series in 2019.
Gase makes the jump from Jimmy Means Racing to Go Green Racing in 2018. In last year's full stint with the No. 52 team the veteran driver earned two Top-10 and five Top-20 finishes en route to finishing the season 22nd in the driver standings. Now he moves to the No. 35 Ford and looks to give this small race team a boost. Sparks Energy will be the main primary sponsor and help fund this small team's efforts. Gase has 175-career Xfinity Series starts, so that was the experience GGR wanted in the seat of their new team. The potential results are debatable give the cross between Gase's talent vs. the newness of this race team.
Gase will once again take on a part-time schedule in the Monster Energy Cup Series and a full-time slate in the Xfinity Series for JMR. Unfortunately, the results for this No. 52 team were spotty at best last season. Gase struggled to just one Top-20 finish in 2016 and posted a lowly 27.8 average finish. His problem primarily stemmed from poor qualifying efforts and losing the lead lap early on in races. It led to a lot of racing in the back of the field for Gase and poor finishes. The team returns intact for the upcoming season and this 142-start veteran driver will look to penetrate the Top 20 of the driver standings in the Xfinity Series for just the second time in his career.
Gase returns to the No. 52 Chevrolet again this year. The 22-year-old turned in his best effort last year during just his second full season of Xfinity Series racing. He qualified for all 33 events and even posted his first-career Top-5 finish, which came in the spring Talladega race. He improved his DNF’s from 11 the previous year to just six. That helped his average finish climb from 29.4 to 27.5. That is some significant improvement from Gase and a sign of more competitive racing. However, once again Top-20 finishes were hard to come by last season. We expect only very little improvement in 2016, which can only be measured in inches. Gase has a lot of upward potential, but it’s limited by this small team’s resources and lack of funding.
Gase already has 23 career starts in this racing series despite the fact that he’s only competed part-time in the last two years. At 20-years-of-age he has a lot more time to learn, and he will get the opportunity this season. The No. 52 team of Jimmy Means Racing intends to field the youngster in the full schedule in 2013. Gase made most of his starts over the last half of last year with this race team. He earned a modest two Top-25 finishes in that effort, but also DNQ’d on three occasions for this team. Hopefully the first full-season of racing will help Gase’s efforts, but the small team’s potential limits too many expectations.
