Josh Berry

32-Year-Old Driver
JR Motorsports
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Berry's first full season of Xfinity Series racing would be a tremendous success last year. The JR Motorsports driver would win three races and collect 20 Top-10 finishes en route to a championship challenging drive. Berry would make a deep playoff run and wind up fourth in the final standings after the championship finale in Phoenix. With Ty Gibbs and Noah Gragson now moved on to the NASCAR Cup Series, it would appear Berry is in the position to be the odds-on favorite to win the 2023 Xfinity Series championship. He returns to the No. 8 JRM team and crew chief Taylor Moyer. The duo will continue to build on the success of their great 2022 campaign and look to be the team to beat in terms of the title in this division of NASCAR. Read Past Outlooks
Finalizing Contract with Stewart Haas
NASCAR Cup
May 25, 2023
Jordan Bianchi at The Athletic reports that Berry and Stewart-Haas Racing are working toward finalizing a contract that would see Berry drive full time for the team in the NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2024.
ANALYSIS
This move has been rumored now for several weeks, but it seems to be progressing towards becoming a reality. Berry is one of the hot prospect drivers in the Xfinity Series currently, and he's been doing a good job of relief driving duty in the Cup Series recently. Kevin Harvick will be retiring at the conclusion of 2023 so it would seem Berry is next in line for the No. 4 SHR Ford.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
This team was JRM's driver rotation entry in 2021, but it will belong solely to Berry in the upcoming season. The young driver impressed last year with just 22 starts in this division of NASCAR. Berry would grab two wins and nab a dozen Top-10 finishes in that partial schedule. The Tennessee native was so impressive that JR Motorsports decided to give him a full slate in 2022. He'll partner with crew chief Taylor Moyer, and the duo will look to win more races and possibly contend for this season's championship. At 31-years-old Berry is more mature and seasoned than most of the prospect drivers in the Xfinity Series. He should be very strong in his first full schedule with this very capable race team.
This team is JR Motorsports' driver rotation entry. JRM fields the car for the full season, but rotates drivers throughout the schedule. Daniel Hemric and Jeb Burton were the chief pilots last season, and they nabbed 11 Top-5 and 19 Top-10 finishes. That speaks volumes of that duo's experience. The team will take a bit of a step back in 2021 as youngsters Berry and Mayer take over the No. 8 team. Berry is tabbed to race 12 events early in the schedule, and then Mayer will race many events in the second half of the season. They will be joined by team owner, Earnhardt Jr., who is poised to make his usual single start, likely in the Martinsville event. This team will see a bit of a downturn in performance this season due to the youth movement of their drivers, but they'll still compete at a very high level.
