Joe Gomez Injury: Season opener in doubt

Gomez (Achilles) is in doubt for the Community Shield on Sunday, per manager Arne Slot. "Unfortunately, Virgil is sick today. We miss out on Alisson. [Joe] Gomez is not there, [Conor] Bradley is not there."

Gomez is still in doubt due to the Achilles injury that forced him away from the pre-season tour of Asia. The defender isn't guaranteed to return for the Community Shield or the Premier League opener. He's the third-choice center-back when fit, behind Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
