Fires halfway line goal in win
MChelsea
May 21, 2024
Caicedo was injured and subbed out in the 64th minute of Sunday's 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth. He scored with his only on goal attempt and created a chance before exiting the match.
ANALYSIS
Caicedo was the engine room of the Chelsea midfield Sunday. In defense he contributed six tackles, three interceptions, a block and a clearance. In attack he made plays through his passing and managed to get on the scoresheet with Chelsea's opening goal, a "Pele-style" shot from the halfway line when he noticed that keeper Neto had left his area to intercept a previous attack. Unfortunately he was subbed with a leg injury after 64 minutes, hopefully it will not be serious and he will be able to join the Ecuadorian national team for the Copa America campaign. It was a strong end to the season for the midfielder, he contributed two assists to the Blues' previous four games to close the season with a total of three assists and a goal.
