Set to miss Betis trip
Perez will miss at least one month after suffering a thigh muscle tear in training Sept. 16, ruling him out of Porto's Champions League trip against Real Betis on Oct. 14, according to head coach Francesco Farioli, per O jogo. "He was out for a year, came back, put in a great performance against Manchester City, but, in a way, he didn't quite manage to make a full recovery and picked up a fairly serious injury in training".
ANALYSIS
Perez suffered a right thigh injury during training on Sep.16 and has been sidelined since, with a confirmed muscle tear expected to keep him out for at least a month. While surgery is not required and his recovery will focus on rehabilitation and a gradual reintegration into training, his physical condition after a year out could prompt Porto to proceed with caution. That rules him out of the Oct. 14 fixture against Real Betis, leaving Jakub Kiwior as the club's only available natural centre-back. With Jan Bednarek (sus) and Dominik Prpic unregistered, Pablo Rosario will likely be deployed alongside Kiwior in central defense.
