Alyssa Thomas

Thomas has been a productive player for the Sun for most of her career, but she put together a career-best season in 2023. She appeared in every game and averaged 15.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 36.2 minutes per game. The 31-year-old was a consistent threat to post double-doubles and also finished the year with seven triple-doubles. She put herself into the conversation for the MVP award and should continue to have plenty of usage in the frontcourt in 2024. Thomas hasn't necessarily been a top-tier contributor in past seasons but certainly established herself as one in 2023. While it's unclear whether she'll be able to maintain her elite level of production in 2024, she should have plenty of opportunities to succeed and has had a high floor throughout her career. She made just three appearances in 2021 but has appeared in every game across the past two seasons. Although 2023 was the best season of Thomas' career in many areas, she's established herself as a safe option throughout her career and warrants consideration among the league's top fantasy options.

After the injury to Jasmine Thomas, Alyssa Thomas wound up as the team's primary ball handler in 2022 and didn't disappoint, averaging 13.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.7 steals per tilt. The Sun decided to deal Jasmine Thomas to Los Angeles in the offseason for a bevy of players, potentially signaling the team's intent to stick with Alyssa Thomas as the primary option on the ball in 2023. Connecticut added another scoring option in Tiffany Hayes but also dished Jonquel Jones to New York, so there are plenty of moving pieces to Connecticut's new rotation. However, Thomas should remain front and center in the team's plans and should warrant a pick within the first couple of rounds of most fantasy drafts.

Thomas tore her Achilles while playing overseas in January of 2021, but she managed to return just in time to contribute for last season's playoffs, where she averaged 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 25.0 minutes across three games against Chicago. The expectation is that she won't be impacted by the injury in 2022, so she'll have the opportunity to bounce back to the player she was before when she averaged 15.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals in 2020. However, this Sun's squad has plenty of returning talent in the frontcourt - led by reigning MVP Jonquel Jones - and added Courtney Williams this offseason, so there's going to be a lot of competition for major roles on a contending Connecticut team.
