RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2013

There was no outlook written for Scott Erickson.

2004

Erickson missed the entire season - the final one on his Orioles contract - last year with a torn labrum. Usually at this late point in a pitcher's career, such an injury is a career-ender, but Erickson insists that he'll try to make it back. It usually takes at least 12 to 18 months to recover from such a surgery, so if Erickson is to come back to full strength, it won't be until March at the earliest, and probably longer.

2003

Erickson completely fell apart in the second half and lost his starting job. He'll be back to compete for the fifth starter's spot. Erickson was diagnosed with a torn labrum in December, but the club insists he'll be ready for spring training. We fear the Orioles will further retard the growth of young hurlers like Rick Bauer, John Stephens and Sean Douglass in order to validate Erickson's contract.
